Abstract

The present interview focuses on the work
and thought of the Cuban writer Roberto
Fernández Retamar, with special attention
to one of his essays, “Calibán”. The author’s
text and ideas offer valuable insights into
some of the essential problems of America,
such as colonialism and its very identity
and culture. The figure of the author,
through his work, voices the struggle of
Latin American and Caribbean countries,
for the rest of the world to listen.
