Inquisitorial justice against the crime of witchcraft: sketches from a comparative perspective (Zugarramurdi, Querétaro and Salem, 17th century)

Abstract

This work is a brief exercise in comparative historical analysis of the inquisitorial processes against the witches of Zugarramurdi, the possessed women of Querétaro and the witches of Salem. The main purpose is to consider the numerous factors that played a role in these processes, particularly the imaginaries about witchcraft, exercised in dissimilar contexts during the long 17th century.
