Teachers during Cardenismo. Between Writing Operators and Local Intellectuals
Abstract
This article analyzes the practices and experiences of local Mexican teachers during Cardenism. From a dialogue with the current Latin American historiography on intellectuals, three particular axes of these teachers are problematized: their relationship with print culture, their conception of militant commitment and, finally, the ambiguities of their political projects. Ultimately, the article seeks to update the debates that have placed teachers at the center of the articulation between the State and social actors at ground level. This also aims to contribute to the discussions that have been established in the continent around the configuration of intellectuals in revolutionary contexts.
