Presences of music in the poetic work of Gaspar Aguilera Díaz

Abstract

This article describes some aspects in which music is present in the poetry of Gaspar Aguilera Díaz (Parral, Chihuahua, 1947–Morelia, Michoacán, 2021). It starts from the importance that musical art had in his own life, to detail the recurrence of titles of musical pieces, genres, and names of musicians in his poems, epigraphs, and dedications, as well as the way in which his writing was influenced by his particular interest in jazz and rock. An analysis of the prosody of verses he authored and the organization of the material in some poems is carried out. Finally, to complete the picture, some musical adaptations of his poetry are referred.
